Infinite

In Infinite, Manuel Calderón explores repetition and limitation through an animation composed of ink drawings. The work presents a continuous descent down a building’s stairwell. Though the body is never visible, its presence is implied through the pendular motion of the camera, a result of the rotoscopy process used in its creation.

White lines on a black background outline an architectural space that seems to extend indefinitely. The animation loops endlessly, where each step echoes the last and every movement reinforces the sensation of a journey without resolution. If in previous projects the body struggled against confinement or routine, in Infinite it is reduced to a mere trace, caught in an endless, aimless passage.
